PROMOTING SAFE AND ECO-FRIENDLY MENSTRUAL PRACTICES IN NEPAL

ABOUT
The primary objective of our project, as the name suggests, is to promote safe and eco-friendly menstrual practices in Nepal. Ashwin Karki, and three students from Kenyon College, Sriya Chadalavada, Lelia Jo Dusthimer, and Prashant Bhandari, are traveling to rural communities to interact with women's groups and school children. In addition to destigmatizing periods, we aim to teach women how to make eco-friendly and reusable cotton pads. We will supply them with sewing machines and resources to continue making the pads after our departure. In the long run, we hope to coordinate with business owners across Nepal so that rural women can sell the products they make--fostering small businesses and creating a self-sustaining industry run for and by women.
